As I was reflecting this morning on my last 44 years, I began to think about things I have learned through those years. This list is not all-inclusive and as I continue to think about it, it may not even include the most important lessons I have learned. But here is what is on my mind today:
- Trust God in all things
- Life is not about me – its about God
- Don’t think less of myself, just think of myself less
- Live fully – always engaged and with no regrets
- Love with all you’ve got
There it is – some things I have learned thus far on my journey. Hopefully there will be many more years and many more lessons.
What are some things you have learned on your journey?
Wise words, Bro. Hill. Somethings I’ve needed to be reminded of.
wow. #3 and #5 hit me pretty hard.
Wonderful words of wisdom thank you.
In acceptance lieth peace, O my heart be still;
Let thy restless worries cease and accept his will.
Numbers two and five hit home with me. I have learned how I developed a new and more profound understanding of the Bible as life serves its blows. It is hard for a person like me that assumes so much responsiblity for what I do, to reconcile accountability with God’s grace. Having faith in God is one thing, trusting God is another, but understanding that without God’s grace, we would have nothing seems to be the most significant.
I truly believe that love is sometimes missing in my profession and that without it, true justice cannot be achieved. I lean hard on God when dealing with people who are in terrible stages of their lives to try to understand their perspectives. Sometimes though, hurdles arise simply from the fact that there are people whom I simply cannot understand, but I can still love them and perhaps even, learn a little from them. Thank you for driving that point home.
