This past week was extremely busy for me. Normally, I have an evening or two at home with the family but this past week it didn’t happen. Then the weekend was crazy with things going on at church as well. Consequently, I spent no time with my family the entire week. I have to tell you, as I drove to the office today and thought about the week ahead, I was convicted. I have all these important things on my calendar for this week and, again this week, my family isn’t on the list.
So my challenge today is to look for ways to adjust and put in some quality time with my family. God has called each of us to carry out the plan God has for us. And in doing that it is very easy to get so busy doing good things that we lose focus on the best things.
Don’t lose sight of the greatest blessing God has given you – your family. Make time for them today.
I am with you!!! Last year, I spent so much of my time “working” for the Kingdom, and it left me tired, frustrated, exhausted, and unhappy. I forgot my biggest ministry…my husband and my boys. When we did Priscilla Shirer’s Study last summer, Let’s Talk, I was convicted during a segment called, “let God Edit Your Life.” She interviewed a man who grew “prize” tomoatos. When asked what the secret was, he answered, “I prune all the fruit except for the two/three that are most promising. The other tomatos, even though they are good fruit, take nutrients, water, etc. from the two or three that have the potential to be HUGE.” I was convicted. It hurt A LOT! I started to think, “They (the ministries I was involved in) need me.” I was convicted again. No they don’ t need me…they need GOD. If I am always volunteering, then God can’t use the one person HE has called to fill the position. I was convicted of the ugly five letter word, P-R-I-D-E. Yuck! When I finally cut back, I was flooded with joy and peace. I fell in love with my “first” love all over again, and was a better wife and mother. Then when God did bring people into my life (at Wal-Mart, across the street, at Drew’s school) I had the time AND energy to walk through the doors HE OPENED!!! Have a blessed day!
