I have a project for you.
I am starting a new series this week – Why You Should Come To My Church.
I am going to be talking about the things we find, or should find, in our churches that make being a part of the church something that is indispensable in a person’s life. What is it about church that a person is just not going to have in his or her life if he or she is not tied to a community of believers?
So here is the project for you – text me, email me, Facebook me, call me or simply reply right here with the answer to this question.
Why is your church indispensable to you?
I can’t wait to hear from you!
Be blessed today!
Going to church keeps me grounded concerning what is important. It helps by reminding me to be more than a hearer of the word by actively being of service to my neighbor.
Thanks Clayton! We all need to be reminded regularly don’t we.
First, I must say that church is my job. Well, sort of. I work at two churches and have pondered why people go to church and what makes it different that social clubs or service clubs. It’s a current conversation in one of my churches. Aside from working at a church (so obviously I go) – for me, church is the community with which I worship and glorify God. It is a community where I can learn and be challenged in my faith, theology and practice of such. It is a community that has more resources together than I do individually to make a difference for the Kingdom. It is a community where I can gain strength to go out and make disciples.
Lory,
Well said. Thanks for sharing. I think you are right – there is strength and energy that comes from community.
No matter where we go all around the country I always go to church on Sunday. Every mass said in the Catholic church is exactly the same everywhere I go and to me that’s just like being HOME. I am always home with my huge Catholic family in God and that always makes me feel welcome no matter where I am. Hugs!
What a wonderful example of the larger community!
I like going to church because I know that I am a ‘cog’ in ministry. God’s purpose can be carried out without me if I refused, but to make the machine do its job effectively, I need to show up physically and figuratively with the gift I have been provided. We go to battle everyday so I like having a place to regroup and find/give support to those who are also seeking their purpose.
What an awesome response! Thanks Janet
